Lhasa and Yamdrok Lake Tour 5 Days is an unforgettable journey through the Tibetan Himalayas that covers the most tourist sites Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Bakor street, Drepung monastery and Sera monastery in Lhasa city and four sacred lakes in Tibet, Yamdrok lake. Being easy and short tour, you will have enough time to immerse yourself into to the culture and enjoy the sites. Lhasa Yamdrok Lake Tour commence as you fly from kathmandu to Lhasa over the Himalayas. Upon your arrival at airport in Lhasa, you will be meeting up and greeted by our representatives who will assist you in transfer to your hotel. For the new-comers, to get acclimatized to the high altitude we recommend you to have a good sleep in your hotel. On the next two days sightseeing of Lhasa City which includes, Potala Palace, Jokhang and Barkhor street in the first phase. For the next day, Visit Drepung monastery where you visit biggest monastery kitchen inside the monastery and enjoy Buddhist Sculpture Carving workshop near Drepung. Moving towards, Sera Monastery you will experience the Monks debate at around 3 – 5 in the afternoon. In addition, you can tour the Tibetan religious scripture printing house; inside the monastery, you can see three sand Mandalas and colorful Rock Painting of Buddha. An overland trip to Lake Yamdrok is usually part of a longer tour. By road, Lake Yamdrok is around 114 kilometers from the center of Lhasa and takes around 2 hours 30 minutes to drive, surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and fed by numerous small streams. Then we will drive downhill to the lake and enjoy the free walk at the lake shore before heading back to Lhasa.

Upon your arrival in Lhasa at the airport hall or train station, Our guide will greet you and take you to your hotel. Lhasa is located on the north bank of Kyichu River. Lhasa in Tibetan means "Place of the Gods", the residence of the Dalai Lama. The guide will briefly introduce the itineraries. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the local areas and acclimatize yourself in high altitude. It is possible to walk around Potala Square or close market. Overnight in Lhasa.

Today is your first day sightseeing in Lhasa, Firstly we visit Potala Palace, the UNESCO world heritage site and the winter palace of the Dalai Lama. Potala Palace was built in 1645 and completed in 1693. It dominates the landscape in Lhasa. You will get bird's-eye view of Lhasa city from the top of Potala Palace. After lunch then we will head to holy Jokhang Temple. It's the most sacred Buddhist site in Tibet. It is valuable relics of Buddha and magnificent statues related to Tibet Buddhism. Then we do the kora by circling the Barkhor Street with pilgrims and locals. You may also buy local Tibetan souvenirs and meet other tourists. Stay overnight in Lhasa.

After Breakfast, In the morning visit Drepung monastery which is the largest monastery in the world and once housed 10,000 monks and nuns. Drepung, in Tibetan, means “prosperity”. Since, Drepung Monastery has always been one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. In the afternoon, you will visit Sera Monastery which is another one of the “great three” Gelug university monasteries of Tibet. The Monks debate at around 3 - 5 in the afternoon is the main attraction of Sera Monastery where you will also get impressive Tibetan religious scripture printing house, see Mandalas and colorful Rock Painting of Buddha. Overnight at Lhasa.

After Breakfast, we will drive from Lhasa to Yamdrok Lake by crossing over the Gampala pass (4790m). Yamdrok Lake is a freshwater lake and one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. Lake is over 72 km long and surrounded by many snow capped mountains. You will get spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar (7191m), the highest mountain near Lhasa. Yamdrok Lake has an outlet stream and turquoise due to its color. We will enjoy the free walk at the lake shore before heading back to Lhasa. Stay overnight in Lhasa.

Saying Good-Bye to Lhasa today. Our tour guide will transfer you to airport in time for your flight or drop you off at Lhasa train station.
