Gokyo Valley Trek officially commence after 40 minutes flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. We start easy walk through Chaurikharka village and descent towards Dudhkoshi Ghat along the bank of Dudhkoshi River until Phakding. Our journey takes us to Namche Bazaar, biggest sherpa village in Nepal via a long suspension bridge, Dudhkoshi River and Monjo village.We will spend 2 days in Namche, which will also get you explore and acclimatized with hike up to the Everest View Hotel and Khumjung village. From Namche, we deviate from the Everest Base Camp Trek route and take fairly a quieter route to Gokyo. The trail passes through Dole and Machhermo among others. Get Awe-inspiring views of the mountains with a dramatic backdrop as you venture further into the Gokyo valley.

The Best time for Everest Gokyo Lake Trek is in the moth of March to May and September to December which are in seasons of spring and autumn. Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, you are welcomed by the hospitable meeting and then you will be transferred to hotel. Kathmandu is the capital and largest metropolitan center, and well known city of temples, monasteries and shrines. Hotel is located at thamel where numerous restaurants, bars and shops that cater everything you need. You can take this opportunity to hire or buy any trekking equipments along with any souvenirs. There will be a pre-trip meeting, so make sure to ask all the questions. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.

Following day after breakfast, we start a guided visit to a couple of the most recorded and significant attractions. We will have sightseeing of World Heritage Sites such as; the heavenly Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath the well known ‘Monkey temple. Bouddhanath, which is one of the greatest stupas on the planet, Patan Durbar Square marvel of Newari architecture. Famous for its rich cultural heritage, Patan is home to fine arts. Early in Morning, We will drive to domestic terminal at Kathmandu Airport for regular flight to Lukla (2,800m), which brings you to the start of your trek. These 40 minutes flight offers you to enjoy the beauty green hills along with background of snowy mountain peaks. Trek starts from Lukla, we head towards Phakding (2,652 meters) passing the Cheplung village and bank of Dudh Koshi river. This first Day hike to Phakding is specifically designed for the purpose of acclimatization, allowing you time to get used to the higher elevation. Today's trek is relatively short around 3-4 hours. After Breakfast at Phakding, we will continue towards north with a few uphill and downhill climb, through the forest, suspension bridges and small Sherpa settlements will bring you village like Jorsale and Monjo. Monjo is the gateway Point of Sagarmatha National Park, where our guide will have a brief permit check and then descend to Dudh Kosi River at Benkar. You will walk through the flat land and crossing last suspension bridges above the river, ascend through the forest of pine all the way up till Mislung, escape out of the forest and continue to Namche following the stone steps. On the trail to Namche Bazzar you will see yaks transporting the goods and experience the breathtaking view of Thamserku Peak, the Kongdi RI Himal and first glimpse of Mt. Everest in its majesty. You will reach the main trading center of Khumbu region where quality restaurants, hotels, lodges, internet cafes and bakeries are available. Overnight at Lodge in Namche Bazaar. At this point, we will spend a day in Namche Bazaar to acclimatize and appropriate adaptation with the environment at the height. Today is Exploration day hike to Everest View Hotel and astonishing Khumjung Village. To get an amazing views of notable peaks like Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Everest, we will also hike up to Everest Hotel followed by cup of tea/coffee and Easy Hike to Khumjung Village. After a proper acclimatization and exploration, we will head back to our lodges in Namche Bazaar. Today Gokyo trail separated from main route to Everest Base Camp. We are approaching 4000m, and the air gets thinner. Begininng up to Kyangjuma and climb steeply out of the valley across rhododendron woodland with with striking waterfalls. It is spectacular day in terms of scenery as we ascend to the main trail Mong La that offers views of Tyangboche monastery and Mt. Ama Dablam. From Phortse Tenga, the trail climbs steeply to Dole through birch forest festooned with hanging mosses and lichens. Wonderful views of Mt. Khumbila (5,761m) and Mt. Tawache (6,542m) are incredible throughout in clear day. Today walking shall be 5 to 6 hours. we stay overnight at one of the teahouse in Dole. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

After Breakfast at Lodge in Dole, We continue to trek further that gradually ascends to Lhabarma and Luza to reach our destination of Machhermo. Climb from Luza takes us to Yak grazing areas in the summer months, a pasture lands. Along the trail, we can witness the striking outlook comprising Dudh Koshi valley alongside and snow-capped mountain. We will also get opportunity to witness the insightful cultural influence of Tibetan Buddhism. Today’s trek is relatively short and pleasant, shall be 4 to 5 hours walking. Get free time to explore around and visit the Himalayan Rescue Association aid post situated in the village. There is a local story that once Yeti was spotted in Machhermo that took life of three Yaks and injured Sherpas too. However, no such evidence to prove it. Overnight at lodge in Machhermo. After Breakfast, We will make an ascent to the higher elevations passing through the settlement of Phang (4,550m). We climb through a ridge Chorten from where we can see panoramic mountain view of the Mt. Kangtega, Thamserku, and northern part to the Cho-Oyu. After exploring two lakes, it takes us finally to Gokyo lake which is located at 4750 meters above sea level. We will have enough time to explore around the Gokyo Lake. You will also see the new birds near Gokyo Lake which are the family of green Brainy ducks. Overnight at lodge in Gokyo. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

This Early morning, we will steep climb up to the top of Gokyo Ri (5,357m). From the top, we can have a stunning views of the Gokyo valley along with panoramic view of Cho-Oyu, Makalu, Cholatse Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse and massive looking of Ngozumpa glacier. The second attraction explores the fourth to sixth lakes north of the village. After gazing at nature’s splendour, we hike down to Gokyo for overnight stay. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Included)

After Breakfast, We begin our way back to Dole. Today trek is gradual downhill alongside the river streams emerging from Ngojumpa glacier. After Breakfast, We continue trek where we descend on the steep path to the Dudh Koshi and climb up to Namche Bazaar. After Breakfast at Namche Bazaar, we began our trek back to Lukla following the Dudh Kosi river valley and crossing several suspension bridge along with Hillary Suspension Bridge. Enjoy the beauteous views of the blue-pine and rhododendron forest, Mani-stone walls, prayer flags and Sherpa Village. We pass through villages like Chumoa, Benkar, Phakding, and Chuthawa, eventually reaching the Pasang Lhamu Memorial Gate signifying the end of the trek. On arrival in Lukla, trekking ends. You can stretch up your sore legs and have a rest for a while and later stroll around the village, listening to the stories of the locals and experience their lifestyle. These is final day of your trekking most trekkers make a celebration with their guide and crew members at Lukla. You have done it. Overnight at Lodge in Lukla.

It's your last day in Nepal! Grab hygenic breakfast, then take last-minute shopping and explore around the market or relax at hotel in Kathmandu. You will be advised and assisted for onward travel arrangements to make sure that you arrive at Airport three hours before your flight departs. Our airport representative will drop you to the airport for your International flight as per your flight schedule. We will exchange our good-byes and now you will be leaving Nepal, armed with all the good memories and unforgettable Experience. Useful Information

Best Time for Trek

Spring during the month of (March, April, May) and Autumn Season during the month of (September, October, and November) are regard as the best time for trekking in Nepal, and so does Gokyo Valley Trek. During these spring and autumn season you will find moderate temperatures and provide better view of mountains, less heat haze cloud and clear views of mountains. Although this trip is achievable during winter and monsoon seasons too, though it is not suitable for everyone. In winter season, the months of (December, January and February) surrounding along the Hills and peaks are fully covered by snow in the mountains. The trekking trail is blocked in a few areas of the upper parts of the trek. Whereas, In the monsoon season (June, July and August), rain may affect the trek.

Accommodations

Accommodation is one of the major factor that enhances your overall travel experience. Keeping this in consideration, During trekking, you will be staying at standard lodge as possible. Accommodate in mountain are simple but it is standard, clean, comfortable lodge with great views of the mountain and sceneries. All the Accommodations are on twin sharing basis. However, Single Supplement can be provided upon request at additional cost. The rooms at mountain teahouses consist of nice and warm blankets, mattresses, pillows, bedsheets. During the trek in mountain, we ensure accommodate to the available tea houses with great views of the mountain and sceneries. In Kathmandu, we will offer you 3 Star hotel accommodation. However, We will be pleased to making reservation at any of the upgrade luxury accommodation during the trekking and Kathmandu. We are flexible and happy to make booking as per your requirement.

Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance is compulsory for Everest Gokyo Lake Trek. All the trekkers must provide the travel insurance policy certificate to Aspiration Adventure. This is high-altitude trek and quite challenging which means it comes with the risks of altitude sickness and and other unforeseen events. Travel Insurance policy must cover medical and emergency repatriation including helicopter rescue and evacuation expenses at high altitudes. In case of emergencies, we will be using the insurance policy and informational documents you sent us to operate the quick operation. Travel Insurance comes handy in these unexpected situations by covering all of the costs of treatments, medics, and helicopter rescue.

Within the event of an emergency, We will utilize the insurance policy and other documents you given to organize a convenient and viable protect operation, exchange to the clinic for crisis therapeutic help, and so on. Required Fitness Level

Everest Gokyo Lake Trek 14 Days is a moderate trek, Strenuous hiking on mountain paths, covering 3 to 9 miles per day on rugged terrain. These trek is suitable for keen trekkers who are able to walk for 4 to 6 hours in a day, with a light rucksack. There are 11 days walking with full porterage throughout the trekking and all there is left to worry about is your water, snacks and camera. It is suitable for anyone with moderate fitness level for relative newcomers and first times to highly experienced hikers. Past trekking/walking experience would be an asset but not required to have any technical experience only that you need be in good physical condition and able to walk for 4 – 6 hours per day. Trekking route consists of hills and flat-lands, you will mostly walk up-hill and down-hill with some steep portion. We recommend undertaking a gym training and practice morning jogging and exercise with hike 6-8 weeks prior to embarking on the trek.

Drinking Water options

It is advice drinking 3 to 4 liters of water each day to stay well hydrated. You should consume if you are not thirsty. The water is available at every trekking lodge or grocery shops along the route, buying a bottle mineral water cost anywhere around 1 USD per litres. However, Aspiration Adventure recommend not buying bottled water due to environment concern and advice you to carry a reusable water bottle that can hold both hot and cold water. You can refill the water from the freely available taps or water source and use water purification tools such as water filter, purification drugs (chlorine/Iodine), SteriPEN (UV Water Purifier). During the trek, Water is necessary as it might be replaced as oxygen in such a high altitude.

Transport and Flight

In this trip, Aspiration Adventure provides all the necessary transportation on private car and regular airlines flight to Lukla. Firstly we provide free arrival and departure service, Please let us know about your international flight for this service. On Arrival Day, you will be warmly welcome by our representative by traditional flower and transfer to respective hotel. For the valley sightseeing you will be in the private vehicle. For the Lukla flight, you will have the Private car for the airport to hotel pick and drop off. Our flights to and from Lukla are through regular airlines twin Otter and Dornier.

Passport and Visa

If you are travelling to Nepal for (tour, sightseeing, travel, trekking, mountaineering, visiting friends and families) then you need to have a visa to enter Nepal. Visa is available at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu’s where you can simply get the “On Arrival Visa” with the application that require at least a passport of 6 months’ validity, and a passport size photo. You will be charged USD $ 30 for 15 days and USD $ 50 for 30 days as visa application fee which have to be paid in cash on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. For those tourists who have Indian and Chinese passports then you do not need a visa (Free Visa). Most visitors will be able to obtain a visa upon arrival at the airport. The Certain country (Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria) are requested to acquire Visa prior their arrival from their local Diplomatic missions (Embassies/Consulates) of Nepal Government.

Everest Region Permits and Requirements

Every trekkers who are willing to Gokyo Valley Trek requires permits which are Sagarmatha National Park entry permit, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Entrance Permit, and TIMS Permit. Please be noted that, you do not have to worry and pay extra for permit. It is organized and provided in the package by Aspiration Adventure – All of these permit are included in cost and we will take care of it.
